YAY!!

My bunny called me tonight. I was SO surprised and instantly elated. I miss him so much. Now I know he's alright, and got to hear his voice, I'm so much happier and beaming.
I love my bunny!
I wish I was with him in Cancun this week.

Does the body good!

Swam for just under an hour, and over a mile tonight. It felt good!

Targeted areas with my lifestyle:
  • Swimming for my arms, and helps with the core, a little free weights here and there.
  • Running for my legs, and helps with the core, a little squats and lunges here and there.
  • Daily ab work out for the core.
  • Tennis and Football for some fun.

Of course all areas are targeted with all that's listed above, just some more than others.

He's OOOO-TAY!

After he beat Pete Sampras at age 19, I decided that Roger Federer was a punk li'l kid with LUCK to have beat one of the greatest.

I didn't want to like him, BUT, I'm a tennis fan. How easily wooed one can be by the most dominant player in the world. The man has skills. *sigh* He has skills.

ugh!

I basically just drove 30 miles to deposit a check. I was on my way downtown for football practice, when, I LUCKILY decided to text Chris' roommate to find out if we were even having practice. This was only because I only saw a grey haze in the direction of downtown and thought it might be raining down there. Sure enough, NO PRACTICE. So, not tooooo far from Katy, maybe 10 mins after I had left my house, I turned around. Instead of just getting back on the highway, I decided to take the scenic, traffic lights route.

I decided, since I was already on the road, I'd go deposit my check, then make a bit of a circle, stop and get some coffee and read my book for a while, to get me out of the house. Well, I deposited my check and decided I really don't need coffee right now and SHOULD save the money. All I really wanted was water anyway.

I'm at home right now. I was really looking forward to practice. Oh well, I'll just go running later. If it rains, I'll go swimming at the gym. Either way, I need to not slack it today and work
out!

over and over

I'm getting really pissed off seeing mosquitoes biting me. Every time I'm outside, I either feel them hitting me. Hear them buzzing by my ear. SEE them sucking my blood. After I brush them off, going for the kill, I feel the itch and the mound. grrrrrr.

28.7.07

Empty!

It has been more than two years since Chris and I first met. In those two plus years, there hasn't been a day where we didn't say hello to each other. When I was working for Baker Hughes, I didn't get to see him for a few weeks at a time, but, we still spoke, through email, aim, and at least 10 minutes on the phone.

This week, starting today, he'll be in Cancun, Mexico. I was supposed to go. Heaven knows I would have LOVED to go to a great beach in a great hotel with my love for a week, but, FUNDS! grr...FUNDS. Because he's in Mexico, despite the fact it's a very popular tourist destination, I'm worried about not being able to speak to him for a week. I doubt he'll be able to call. I'm hoping there is internet, but doubt that too.

This has NEVER happened before. Already today there have been many instances where I've thought of something to tell him, but CAN'T! That makes me really sad.

I hope I don't end up moping around all week. I already felt like doing that today, and succeeded.

P.S. Because my mom is SUPER insensitive, she basically made fun of me for crying because I won't see Chris for a week. Firstly, I didn't CRY! Yes, I'm really sad, but, my head was turned in my pillow because of the HEADACHE I had. insensitive bitch. Secondly, sorry you don't know what it's like to have the person you care about most in the world leave for a week not knowing when or how you're going to talk to him.

26.7.07

run. baby. run.

I'm almost there. I had a good run today. I've got the distance, continuously being improved. I keep improving my speed as well.
I must say, I'm in MUCH better shape than I was a little over two months ago.

  • Football two times a week.
  • Running every other day.
  • Tennis whenever I can.
  • Sit ups every day.
  • Need to start swimming about two times a week.

I feel more like me again.

Mystery Solved!

Last night, just as I was slipping into deep sleep, I was FREAKED out by the sound of a man's voice, IN MY ROOM(not the first time I've woken up because of that). I jumped up, turned on the light, and scanned the room. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw something move in my closet. That didn't help. Just as I was falling asleep after that, it happened AGAIN. So, I fell asleep with the lamp on dim.
.
This morning, when I went to the bathroom, I was overwhelmed with the scent of a man's fragrance.
.
What the crap?
.
My dad has been out of town, so I thought he came home and for some ODD reason put on his cologne in my bathroom. Nah.
.
For a BRIEF moment, I was a little freaked that it was that "man" from last night. A GHOST?!?!?!?! Freaked the crap out of me to think like that. I don't believe in that stuff.
.
I thought it was the soap. No, cause I never smell it that strongly. The smell doesn't last all day.
.
Tonight, I solved the mystery!
.
I should have known.
I should have been more observant.
I even planned on doing this myself, but just didn't do it.
.
.
.
My mom goes into my bathroom compulsively, EVERY morning (evident from my scrunchies ending up in the drawer when I wake up). She would have been the ONLY person that put an air refreshner in the socket. It was just sitting on the counter, therefore, she had to move it.
.
I believe logic before ghosts!

First Love

I FINALLY got to go swimming tonight. It was great. I wish I had some company, BUT, it was good to finally be in the water. I felt like it was summer.

What made the night even better was getting into the water after getting to play intramural flag football again. I didn't think I'd have the opportunity after college to play, and the opportunity came up and I got to play. It's a good team of competitive players. It's great. We played two games tonight, won the first one (the one I made a touchdown in) but lost the second one. That's ok, it was real competition. The team is now 3 and 0.

Can't wait for more days of being active. I feel like a human being again, being able to get outside and play.

Tomorrow, tennis. Sweet.

waste of time people

I'm obsessed with knowing and hearing about all the crap that rich people spend their money on. All the things that aren't beneficial to anyone, absolutely UNneccessary, and just such a waste of money.

I'm watching The Fabulous Life of London on VH1, and while I wouldn't mind living in London, it sure as hell isn't for the freaking 35,000 dollar manicure with diamonds, rubies and saphires. Why would you spend that on your hands. You're not even going to keep it on you for the rest of your life. What's worse, a 14,000 dollar TEA BAG. WHY would someone have decided to put over 100 diamonds on and IN a tea bag? When you make your tea, what benefit does steeping diamonds have?

Seriously, people who think of these things and who spend their money on these things really need to re-evaluate their lives. There are people who don't make 14,000 in a year, and you think you're so damn special that you can spend it on your damn tea bag. GET OVER YOUR SELF OBSESSED SELVES!

I don't know if it's worse that someone designs stuff like that, or if rich people think they MUST have it, so they buy it, to be "it".

I'm all for earning money based on talents. I'm not all for people making stupid amounts of money who are dumb as rocks, but just look good. SCREW YOU!! Go pull your face to stay looking that way.

Ok, I'm venting now. I don't have millions..I barely have any money to my name...but, I can tell you I'm about to donate a few things. That's as good as I can do for the time being.

I hope all the wankers that spend stupid amounts of money on useless items, lose all their money and are unhappy and miserable. I doubt they're that happy in the first place that they need to be cool by buying all that stuff.

You make the world a HORRIBLE place you stupid wastes of space!

22.7.07

The sun HATES me.

It's sad, really. I don't mind being outside. I like the farmers tan I've gotten from running when the sun is still out. The thing is, for close to two months now, the sun has triggered a pretty bad case of eczema. At least, that's what it seems like, since all of the symptoms point to that. It hasn't been diagnosed, except by my brother, who hasn't really seen it recently. I know he's going to be a doctor, and already has a PhD, BUT, I didn't do what he advised me to do...well, not everything.

It itches like mad, so not scratching is a lot easier said than done. I have an anti-itch lotion that's been working RIDICULOUSLY well, so that helps, but...YESTERDAY..oh yesterday. So, yesterday, I went car shopping, again, with Chris. This time, we actually went for a test drive, and we were being shown all the fine little details of the car. This was all done at 2pm in the HOT HOUSTON SUN. Ironically, yesterday was one of the few days it hasn't rained, therefore, HOT, HOT, HOT!

I was fine at first, because my scars had been healing nicely, but, I was outside for sevral hours yesterday, and a combination of the beating sun and sweat made it flare up and MAN it sucked. I couldn't help myself and went for it...making it just as bad if not worse than it's been in weeks. GREAT!

So, today, I'm stuck with semi-itching arms, anti-itch lotion, and very ugly scars on my arms. To my friends, when you see me, don't be grossed out, they're just scars from a non-contagious condition.

If only I had medical insurance. If only this happened when I DID have it. Why do you suppose, right after I quit my job, stuff like this happens. oye!

In other great news, bunny has a new car. I was so proud of him for doing it with out his parents, something to call truly his own. It was really sad getting rid of his other car. So many sentiments. Even thinking about it driving away, never to be used by him or I again, it was sad, more so for him, of course. He was so sad about it, he nearly made ME cry. We no longer have the same kind of car. I think that's why I was sad the most, cause that, even though we didn't know it when we first met, made us that weird cute couple that drove the same car. hehe.

Anyway, I'm so proud of you love. I can't wait to share new memories with you in your new car, especially since I was with you to buy it. I LOVE YOU.

feminine appeal

I don't know if it's because I'm older, but, I'm fully aware of the ability to look decent. I'm not saying I don't, but, I'd like to look shall I say...PRETTY. I'm completely against running out and buying the latest fashion, so I'm not willing to be fashionalbe, but I am willing to be a little more feminine.

Lately, I've been trying, and I think I'm doing a decent job. However, I'm not quite the "sexy" person that everyone else seems to be when they go out. I don't really want to be sexy, but at least I want to know that I look good. I know I look good. My boyfriend tells me that all the time.
.
.
I know I have a bit of body dismorphic disorder. Who doesn't? However, I've realized recently, after seeing pictures of when I was 15 and even when I was 16 and 17, I was REALLY SKINNY. Now, not so much. My body fat percent is outrageous. While I do have the ability to be athletic, and lose weight, I haven't been because I've been eating like crap. I'm working on it...TRUST ME.
.
.
In the mean time, I've been on the search for a nice dress. I wouldn't mind pairing in with nice shoes. I know Chris would appreciate it. I think my mom will be AMAZED.
I don't want it to be an all the time thing, just, more often than it has been...for special occasions, and maybe a little more when going out. Besides, I'm still the girl I am, loving cars, and sports, I just will be wearing nice clothes...WHEN I can afford it.

We'll see. I have been trying...I don't know how well it has been noticed.

I'm feeling a little green. I think I wanna hurl or just lie down.

Eternal Love

When I was a wee lass living in Trinidad, cars such as Mercedes Benzes, BMW's, Rolls Royces, Mustangs, Corvettes, and Lexuses were THE hot cars. They were soooo rare in Trinidad, but I was aware of them, and knew of their influence.

When I moved to the states, especially in Texas, Mustangs and Corvettes kinda became an everyday car, since a lot of people here have one. Lexuses, in Trinidad, were not really my favourite, but, they've upped their game and are now a hot little car to have....I would actually get one...the LS if I could afford it.

BMW will always be my love though. Those cars to me, represent beauty, power, and just make me stare on the road. Yes, there are 300s all over the place, which is why I'd rather buy a 500 and up WHEN I do buy one.. hehe.

Mercedes...they're still cars that are for big wigs, but..they are not as special as BMWs to me, and I'd probably get a Lexus before I get a Benz.

A few cars that have recently become contenders...since I'm a little more mature.... Infiniti puts out some lookers that are classy cars. The Acura TL...it's pretty good looking, and actually affordable.
Good looking "muscle" cars....Camaros, Chargers [for a while I wanted a charger Black with Orange racing stripes. Now, I want a Camaro.. :) ]

Being in Houston, I've encountered a few Bentleys. OoOoOo, Bentley!!!!!! EVERY time I see one of those on the road, and I have seen a few....I stare. It's quite dangerous. Too bad I can't go as fast as they can to keep staring. *drool*

I'm grateful to be in a place like Houston where there are prominent individuals that can afford such vehicles for me to be lost in. *sigh* I have always and will always LOVE great cars.
Honourable mentions: Audi A8, Mercedes SL, Maserati, Aston Martin (LOVE those).

Simpsons MANIA!

It's amazing just how far out the Simpsons' movie is being promoted. I LOVE IT. First, 7Eleven turned their top stores in to Kwik E Marts. Then, I saw lifesize simpsons coming off a jet blue plane. And today, sevral friends have changed significantly from 3-D human beings to yellow 2D avatars, thanks to http://www.simpsonsmovie.com/.

It's HILARIOUS.

The Simpsons is BY FAR a cultural icon, and it's awesome to see how they're really taking over the country.
I can't wait to see it myself. When I finish creating all the avatars I'd like to...I'll put them up.

lost.

It has been over two months since I quit that thing that paid my bills and gave me independence. It was the worst possible one I could have, and I got out of it to spend all my time looking for a new and better one.

Today, I realized that I've lost sight of why I'm sitting in my parents house and not in my own place. I think it's because of how discouraged I am at companies' requirement for a certain GPA, not giving me the time of day to say why mine isn't what they want.

For crying out loud, I am a smart person, who will learn a job and learn to do it well. I have interest in this damn industry, and I'm supposed to easily get a job, if people weren't so stuck up. It pisses me off that other engineers are getting jobs that petroleum engineers were trained for.

I need to really consider becoming a professional in something other than engineering.

Either that or I really need to try harder at finding a job.

I HATE IT.

12.7.07

really irks me

It bothers me when people don't consider warming up a crucial part of working out. I realize the importance, from being in sports and taking classes, therefore, encorporating it into my routine.

So, for those who don't do it......

10 reasons to warm upTempted to skip your warm up? Don't! Your warm up is an important part of your exercise routine. According to ACSM's James Peterson, Ph.D., FACSM, here are 10 vital reasons for starting out with a warm up and not taking shortcuts!

1. Increases degradation of oxyhemoglobin. In lay person's terms, warming up helps break down the chemical complex of oxygen, which enables it to separate from the blood and enhance its delivery to the muscle.

2. Increases body temperature. Warming up reduces the potential for muscle and connective injuries.

3. Increases blood flow to exercising muscles. The more blood that reaches the muscles, the easier the delivery of nutrients required for energy production.

4. Increase blood flow to the heart. More blood to the heart means a reduced risk for exercise-induced cardiac abnormalities.

5. Decreases muscle viscosity. Hey, if viscosity is bad for your car engine, it's not any better for your muscles. Warming up enhances the suppleness of the muscle.

6. Help promote sweating. Remember: sweat is good. Sweating reduces the amount of heat stored in the body. Your body spends more energy cooling itself than through any other activity.
7. Enhances the speed of transmission of nerve impulses. Motor faculties improve greatly when you're warmed up. Need proof? Get out of bed and run to the front door. You'll probably bump into something, or worse, fall down. If you walked to the front door, and stretched. You could run like Forest Gump.

8. Increases the blood saturation of muscles and connective tissue. Sounds messy. In reality, the more blood reaching the muscles, tendons and ligaments, the better the elasticity of these tissues. Which means better performance and reduced chance of injuries
.
9. Prepares the cardiovascular system for impending workload. Helps the heart and blood vessels adjust to the body's increased demands for blood and oxygen.

10. Prepares muscles for impending workload. Warming up may reduce the likelihood of excessive muscle soreness.

Bizarre Foods

CHECK. I am officially a fan of Andrew Zimmern after his episode of Bizarre Foods tonight in Trinidad and Tobago. He seemed to enjoy most of what he ate....things I enjoyed/enjoy as a Trinidadian.

I think I'd actually enjoy about 90% of what he eats (the mystery meat and eggs in Morocco, not so much..if you catch me), if given the opportunity to try it.

I appreciate his open mind and open palette.

You rock Andrew Zimmern.

Burying the "N" word

Today, the NAACP, in an effort to show the intolerance of the N word, held a symbolic funeral. It is now a debate about the effectiveness of this gesture and its impact on those who use the word.

Personally, I'm glad it has been acknowledged that no one using the word is justified. I realize however that it's most likely not going to be given up by those who use it frequently and see nothing wrong with it.

My argument to those using it, especially black people who use it is that it's really hypocritical. If a white person uses the word in the exact same context as a black person, referring to a friend, why is that not ok? If a white person refers to someone even in a derogatory manner, toward someone a black person could say the same thing about, why is it not ok? Apparently the N word can be used to describe certain behaviours and demeanour of a black person, so, it seems as though, if one race is "allowed" to use it with this reference, the other should be able to as well.

Of course many races use this, which is just funny to me. Like I said though, when black people use the word, I feel as though I'm just as capable of saying it. I NEVER use the word nor do I condone ANYONE using it, because I find it highly vulgar, even when used casually. I think if someone is going to be offended by it, then it should not be used at all.

This is the CNN article. Read if you're interested.

San Antonio nightlife

First, On the half shell at Oyster Bar. A cool place to dance, have a few drinks. The music is all the "dance" music on the radio, that you've heard at least a million times on the radio. The thing is, when you hear it on the radio, you want to dance, so, this is the place to get a chance.

Second, I don't even know the name of it, but it was connected to the Oyster Bar through the bathroom, but they charge you to get in (They said it was 10 dollars but they gave us half off cause we were just in the other bar...YEAH RIGHT). It's not as "hip" as the Oyster Bar, though you can tell it tries. It's kinda bright, and the SAME music as the other bar, therefore, annoying. I DID steal a T.I. vs. T.I.P poster though. I felt like a badass.

Third, Club Rive. This place was unlike any I have ever seen. There were FOUR areas that were separate from the rest. The entrance had live alternative music. The back room, poles, dancers in their underwear...LITERALLY, bras and underwear, and hip hop. Upstairs, more hip hop, but it was HOT. This chick tried to dance with Chris...TRIED. Of the three guys that I was hanging out with, she went up to the one that was holding hands with his girlfriend. Step off, chick. I helped Chris dismiss her by pulling him away. I think she got the message. I can't remember the fourth room, but...we were back to the one with the poles and the dancers. I had taken a picture, but someone told me I had to delete it. I didn't see the teeny sign on the wall. oops. When they were done, they came up to us and started chatting cause one of them had just macked a guy and we were like, WHAT! It was her boyfriend so she was calling the guys out for making faces. haha.

It was interesting hanging out in San Antonio. I enjoyed it, but, I will always prefer Austin, especially after finding a few new bars.

not so great

-I have a skin problem, that looks like my arms got burned.
-I don't have a job, and I'm using all of my savings.
-I actually GAINED 10 lbs since quitting my job, even though I work out like 4 times a week.
-I can't say I have too many friends.
I have every reason to feel miserable at the moment. My life is NOT what it should be and what's worse is that I feel like I screwed myself by quitting a job that made me depressed. I know I'm being emotional right now, but I feel justified, discouraged, and not so great.

p.s. I didn't get to go swimming this weekend. The only time I got wet was walking through the rain. grr.

I wanna do something near or on water this weekend. I MUST.
