Just like yesterday

Last night was a girl's night with Rebecca and Star. I hadn't seen or hung out with those girls in over a year, so I was really excited.

Chris took me to the Tipsy Clover and while in line, the guy in front of me pulled out his iPhone. DOOD. You already have it. I mean, I'm sure a LOT of people already have it, which is pathetic. Way to try to be "cool" and have the latest bit of technology, thereby giving that company BILLIONS more!

Anyway, I was waiting in line by myself, and when I got to the bouncer, and I told him it was just me, he said "Next time, don't wait in line sweetheart." What does that mean? Does that mean that I'm the poor little girl who goes to bars alone, or, did he know I was meeting my friends inside?!

Either way, I made it inside and there they were. It certainly didn't feel like a year had passed.

I'm so glad Rebecca is back in Texas. There shall be PLENTY more times for fun. Like next weekend for example...we'll be taking Austin by storm!

rolling thunder

The rain keeps coming.
Before it falls, thunder, sometimes lightning. I LOVE IT. It's the middle of the day yet my house is dark and I need to turn on lights. It's my FAVOURITE feeling. cozy.

my blessing

After giving a man in Houston $1.25 for something to eat, he said that Luke 6:38 was my blessing.

I was curious, not having memorized the Bible, what it said.

Passage Luke 6:38:

38 "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."
.
.
You're welcome.

HUGE compliment

A friend of mine just told me that she thinks I look like Keri Russell's brown counterpart. That's a HUGE compliment to me, cause I think Keri Russell is one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood. While I don't see the resemblance, it has made my day. I'm glad for the self esteem boost.

A Few Choice Words.

Last night, as I was driving home, observing all the STUPID drivers on the road, I looked in my rearview mirror to see a HUGE F150 speeding toward me, around another car, then past mine. As it passed, the back windshield ironically said.."BORN TO KILL!" uggggggggghhhhhh. Do you understand my frustration.

The guy barely had enough room to pass me, especially at the speed he was going. I couldn't help but think..."If I get pulled over, I'm going to tell the cop..."

"You know what officer, I think it's ridiculous that I'm being pulled over for going about 5 miles over the speed limit, 6 if I'm not paying attention, when just a few moments ago, a truck came hurtling toward me at speeds MUCH greater than mine. That truck had a great sticker saying born to kill, yet, I'm getting pulled over. Maybe the Houston Police Department can work on doing their job a little more efficiently and stop pulling people over who aren't endangering other drivers as much as maniacs like that guy....ESPEICALLY when they're the only person on the road at 5am and didn't see the freaking speed limit reduction until the next one."

I know I keep talking about all these traffic incidents, but...they're such a problem and they bother me SOO much.

26.6.07

expect the unexpected

1. Dented Lexus ES. Old lady driver (grey haired, and old looking). Expected.
.
.
2. Lime green moped. Hot pink mohawk. Older man (wrinkled). Unexpected.
.
ahh..the things I get to see while driving.

Problematic

I drive half an hour each way, without traffic to Chris' place, almost every day. Before that, my job required me to drive for hours. Because of that, I'm on the highway A LOT! Being on the highway, during the day means traffic, many cars, and MANY IDIOTS.

I've always been annoyed at people who don't signal, but now I have so many more things to be annoyed by, since I've driven SOOOOO much in the past year. It's come to the point where my road rage is out of control. When I say road rage, I don't tail people or honk (which I should actually do more), I just get so pissed with that people cut me off, cut other people off, don't signal, tail me, drive unnecessarily fast...etc...etc...etc.

The rainy season is here. It rains EVERY DAY. What does that mean, all the dummies on the road are going to get into accidents and cause accidents for others.

I actually think that I'll die either naturally or in a car accident that I DID NOT CAUSE. I seriously believe that. As much as I hate to think of how I'll die...I actually drive well and responsibly and calmly and safely, and I get where I need to be, but there are so many bad drivers who REALLY don't care that THEY will kill me.

23.6.07

Invasion

There are about 5 spiders in my garage, maybe a few more actually, all of which are above the door to the house. I've been wanting them taken care of lately, but tonight, I'm greatful that they're there.

I was walking Chris out and I hallucinated one of them coming right at me. It wasn't a spider though, it was a mosquito. When I looked up at the webs, they were filled with mosquitoes. The blood suckers were all over the wall, all through the garage. The spiders are hard at work! muahahahahaha...die mosquitoes...DIE!

If one of those blood suckers gets in my house....they come after ME. I've been bitten 5 times in one min...IN MY OWN HOUSE.

They're such persistent devils that as Chris and I were standing by his car, a small swarm reached us! Carbon dioxide apparantly. bastards.

21.6.07

Sipping coffee in my pjs

Not much different from being in Katy.

I'm back in Lafayette, but in much better style. I'm here with my dad on his business trip, staying in the Hilton on the executive level. It's a nice place to be in this stupid town. Our view....a dirty brown river. I'm still checking for alligators. No luck yet.

I haven't been able to eat yet, but last night's meal was so good!! Who knew Outback would provide such joy. We had seared ahi tuna for appetizers. Medium cooked lamb chops with roasted galic mashed potatoes and a chardonay sauce. yumm!!

I was going to go to the gym today, but, I didn't eat anything yet, so I can't go on an empty stomach...I'll die. I'll go tonight when my dad is playing scrabble, after we finish getting the rest of my stuff.

Tomorrow morning...GOODBYE Lafayette...hopefully for GOOD!!

aside:
Last night, while forcing myself to go to sleep, I remembered my childhood friend. My pillows that went with me everywhere. Well, there were two and they were interchangable, and identical. They were identical down to the hole I had to put in one of them to match the other one. They smelled really good from the laundry detergent, and I loved smelling them. They went with me everywhere, and that was my stuffed animal or blankie equivalent. I think I was 8 or 9 when they mysteriously disappeared though. To this day, I have no idea what happened. I hope they weren't burned or something bad like that. Anyway, that was random, but it made me smile and remember childhood.

18.6.07

Big Deal

I got a message from a recruiter about a job opportunity in Alaska. I jumped on Petroleum Engineering a few years ago with the knowledge of being able to travel, and live in different places. The thing is, I'm hoping to get a job in Houston. It's hard because of opportunities in places like Denver, Alaska, even Chicago, but, I'm hoping for Houston.

I love Chris and I'm planning my future with him. It's hard though because I'm missing opportunities that aren't in Houston.

Alaska would have been cool, but I don't think I can live there for too long.

17.6.07

Shitty day.

Today WAS Father's Day, and even though I don't have the best relationship with my father, I still had planned on seeing him. I didn't even see my dad today.

I woke up too late to go to church, that was my fault. I had to take care of getting my prescription before church, in the pouring rain. The rain didn't slow me down, but, by the time I was done with my prescription, I was so late for church there was no point. So, I headed straight to Chris' place. I would get there early enough to have a good breakfast, and then go to my training session.

DAMN traffic. Damn construction. An hour later, a lot of rain later, I got to his place. By then, I couldn't eat too much, and because of the rain, I had to cancel my training session! DAMN DAMN DAMN. I really wanted to go. I'm getting back into shape, and it would have been perfect, but..the rain was hard and menacing enough for me to smartly stay put.

So, I waited for dinner, the plan I had made with my parents. I got a call at 330 and was told that they just had a huge lunch with people from church. Therefore, no need for dinner. Great.

I stayed at Chris' all day! The only good thing about the day.

On top of all that.....
I HATE DRIVERS WHO THINK THAT THEY COULD DRIVE LIKE RETARDS, NOT SIGNAL IN THE RAIN AND HEAVY TRAFFIC, SPEED AND CUT PEOPLE OFF....TO SAVE SECONDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT'S ALL THEY SAVE. SECONDS. OH, AND THE DUMB FUCKS THAT DECIDE TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY FROM THE LEFT LANE, AT THE LAST MINUTE. I HOPE YOU CRASH, YOU DUMB ASSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

14.6.07

great feeling

I've been looking at my credit card statement online over the past few days because I don't want it to go over a certain amount. I'm glad that it didn't. Today, I checked my bank account, and while it was logging on, I snickerd at the idea of money magically showing up in my account. When I logged on, there was more money than I expected! LOL. Money DID magically appear. Well, I was expecting it, but totally forgot that I was expecting it. It was a nice surprise. That however will be the last amount of money I get in my bank account from Baker Hughes.

13.6.07

Father's Day fraud

At Target just now, I walked by the cards and thought that I might as well get it out of the way. I looked at a few. A funny one? A religious one? One at all? I saw phrases like "The Best" "I Love You" and thought....why am I bothering.

Is it bad that I really don't think I should buy something for my dad when neither of those apply? My dad has provided a lot for me. I'm not a spoiled brat to where I'm ungrateful, but, I do think I should get a little more than monetary support.

Someone who shows NO respect toward me or my mom for that matter. Someone who thinks he can be bossy cause he's the "man of the house". Someone who actually thinks he knows everything, even though he doesn't and has been proven wrong on SEVRAL occasions. There are more personal reasons to my lack of enthusiasm toward showing appreciation for my father.
It's making me angry just thinking that I have to get some kind of token out of tradition. It won't mean ANYTHING.

Whatever!

what the poop?!?!

This woman, who has 8 kids, takes pictures of her kids next to their poop when they've taken it at the potty. NASTY!! She takes pictures, gives them M&Ms and tells the whole brood. Now, the siblings, not to be outdone, are going to sit on the potty til they poop too! "Alexis (the one on this episode who just pooped) is a great pooper!" Her kids are reallly cute though. I forgot the name of the show, but it's a show that's on Discovery Health about a woman who had twin girls and then sextuplets.

11.6.07

Creature Comforts

Hilarious claymation on CBS right now. Animals are being asked questions like "what do you think about flying?" "What would you change about your body?" It got me watching while just flipping through the channels.

Creature Comforts.

Seriously?!?!

On Miami Ink, people get tattoos all the time of loved ones that passed away. It's fine. What's a little much is a sister putting a tattoo to commemorate her younger brother who killed himself. What's a little MORE much is that she had some of his ashes put into the ink. BASICALLY....her dead brother's ashes are now IN HER SKIN! What the crap?! I think suicide is a BIG deal, and not something that should necessarily be "glorified" that way. She might have been close to him, but how can she hope that he's in a better place just cause he couldn't deal with is life at 15? I'm being harsh, but...come on!

10.6.07

BBQ bash

It nearly didn't happen cause not everyone invited was able to make it, BUT, Chris' and Eric's "house warming" bbq was a success.

Yeah, Enrique dropped the rice that he took soo long to prepare. It looked like it was going to be tasty, and I was waiting to taste it. But, he came out to the grill, in need of a drink after dropping ALL of it! It hurt us all, but not as much as it hurt him, which is why everyone made fun of him the rest of the night.

There was sooooo much food. Chicken. Pork. Fajita beef and chicken. Baked beans. Corn. Pasta salad. Veggie burgers. Baked potatoes. And brownies for dessert.

I made the brownies, two batches, one of which was a failure, because it was in a thin pan (what I had to work with) that I neglected to let bake long enough. They just turned out really chewy, pretty raw. Steven actually asked me if they were "special" brownies. Rightly so. They did look really different.

About 20 people showed up all together. After the food, BEER PONG. Yeah, that's right, a group of professionals playing and thoroughly enjoying BEER PONG. It was great. Despite the sauna like atmosphere of the garage, it was great fun. I'm glad Chris was already at his place, so I wasn't worried about him driving. Brian lives across the street, so not TOO worried there. Others had more sober drivers and a few stayed at Chris' place. Since I'm like a mom when it comes to hanging out with those guys...I had to make sure people were safe. They were.

Too bad I had to leave the party early to drive back to Katy. The party was still going pretty strong when I left. There were cards and dominoes when I left.

Today was pretty, blah. Church. Lunch. Nap. Run. Dinner. Movie.
.
p.s. I'm still working on accepting the fact that I can't time travel and NOT cut my hair. I'm actually reallllllly sad about it. Why did I try to be adventurous. I still feel this way despite the compliments I've been getting. It will grow back. I know. It's going to take a YEAR to be nearly as long as it was!!!!!

8.6.07

i take it back

I want to go back to this afternoon and NOT cut my hair. I want to be frumpy and boring again. I want my long hair back. GROW BACK, hair, GROW BACK!!!! *tear*

7.6.07

ch-ch-ch-changes

It's weird how a haircut can be a big deal. a big change. It usually isn't for me, because for years I've been trying to keep it long so just a trim a year. Today though, well lately, I just wanted something different, something with more style to it. I hate taking care of my hair. I usually don't even brush it. That's probably why it really was just long hair and not that great looking long hair. So, I decided that I could get a haircut. Hopefully one that looked good. Something different. If I didn't like it...it would grow back, and I could just put it in my ponytail as usual.

So, I went to a salon that I've been to before. I requested the second best cutter there. I kinda explained what I wanted, what length and so on.

When I was done, it took a while, but by the time I got to my car, I liked it. It works. It's DIFFERENT. It's so short that I can only put it up half way with a stub of a ponytail. It's new. I haven't had my hair this short in years.

The thing I hate about getting a cut that has some kind of style to it is that they style it with products and flat irons and what not. It is NOT something I will ever be able to re-create. Oh well, at least I can try.

Well...we'll see how this goes. I'm looking forward to it being a little longer though.

Oh yeah, the best thing that came out of my hair cut today was that for the first time I donated to Locks of Love. I always wanted to be able to do it. I didn't realize that you needed 8 inches to be able to donate. I was shocked when I realized I was going to cut that much off, but....I was more than glad to be able to do it. There was no hesitation!

this one time

I'm not into trendy stuff. Actually, if it's trendy, I sorta don't want it. I think this iPod, transfer into an iNation is getting out of hand. I DO have an iPod, but it's not something that never leaves my side. I have a 30GB with only 200 songs! So yeah, I don't do trendy. However.........I've been seeing all the ads for the iPhone and I must say.....it would be VERY handy. I still don't plan on ever owning it. What would I do with my current phone and iPod, not to mention, I'm sure you actually have to pay for most of the features that thing offers. I am still impressed.

6.6.07

expensive ambition

I LOVE food. I really would like to be able to cook awesome meals. It's not hard, I just don't have the money! Sheesh. It's sooooo expensive to buy the ingredients. I have nothing BUT time, so that's not a problem. I do try the less expensive stuff, but...one of these days. Chris better eat EVERYTHING I cook! hehehe. He doesn't like fish and asparagus. Two things I LOVE. Oh well. He still tries to please me, so he forces himself to try it.

Another expensive hobby is photography. How is it expensive? Well, I really would like to own a fancy camera, and those aren't exactly cheap. In the mean time, I have a good little camera that I can practice my photographic eye with.

It's Johnny Depp

He's hot. Can he be hotter? He's definitely gotten hotter with age. Let me just put a picture up for all to oogle at.

p.s. I just go through phases of finding many men in the public eye to be highly attractive. I watch too much TV. That's what the problem really is.

5.6.07

bunny

I love my boyfriend so much. I don't know how and when I started calling him bunny, but, it's just one of my pet names for him. He's so silly. My mom was imagining something was wrong because I didn't go see him tonight. He was just going to the gym. Maybe I should have gone so I could have kept him from having a brain fart. Hehe!! Oh well, it ended up making me crack up.

I just felt like writing about how much I love him. I love his personality. I love his body. I love his ideas. I love his attitude about things.

I my bunny!!!!!!!!!!

Knocked Up

I wondered what could make this movie rated R after seeing the previews for months now. I thought it was getting way more hype than it deserved. I thought they showed every joke in the commercials. I saw it tonight and I was wrong.

I loved it. It was hilarious. It was sweet. It wasn't childish. It seemed more realistic than usual....despite the incredibly realistic birth scene. (you'll know what I'm talking about it when you see it.)

So yeah, I recommend it, highly. I really liked the actors. They all did a great job, even the little girls.

2.6.07

STUPID IDIOTS

I have nothing intelligent to say about the situation other than...WHAT IDIOTS! GOLLY. It's gonna be ridiculous getting insulted over this incident, by ignorant Americans, but, what IDIOTS. The guy from Trinidad...whyyyyyyyy?!?!?! Thanks for making such a small country have an internationally bad reputation now, you dumbass! The irony is that a lot of HIGHLY intelligent people come from Trinidad. This dumbass just doesn't belong!

Read the article.

preggers

Stuffed from a shmorgusboard of amazing Indian food. Exhausted from day 2 in Boston.
Good night.

1.6.07

did ya hear the news?!?!?

Universal is opening a Harry Potter theme park. That's friggin' sweeeeet!

genius update

He passed. It was quicker than expected. There were no corrections to be made. It was a clear pass. Did I say I was so proud of him? Everyone loves him and thinks he's such an awesome guy. I couldn't help but wish my collegues and peers thought the same of me. He's a guy though, and not a girl, and therefore doesn't have to deal with too many "bitches". I'm not calling anyone a bitch. Girls just are like that sometimes even toward close friends. I HATE IT.

Anyway, in a new hotel (last night was downtown at The Colonnade). For the rest of the weekend, Hotel Marlowe. fancy shmancy. Too bad it's a king size and I get to sleep on the cot. yay me.

My honey is sick and it's making me sad, cause I can't take care of him and hug him to make him feel better. At least he's getting to rest. He needed that.

My mom...annoying the SHIT out of me cause we're in freaking Boston and because my parents are...well...parents, they need to rest for a while. The thing is, my mom being as uninteresting as she is, would rather watch the French Open than walk around Boston. Now, I like tennis, yes, but, they have the stupid tennis channel so they watch even the small tournaments. That's fine, but..it's fine when we're at home and they don't have to be adventurous. Here though?! It's Boston, man. Do something besides sit on your ass.

I shouldn't speak of my parents this way. Though they lack social skills, they did produce a genius son. Yeah, I live in the shadow of my brother. He's good to me, so I can't hold it against him. I hold it against my parents that they view me as the failure in the family.FUCK 'EM.

Aside: My mom had the nerve to criticize what I want to wear to dinner to night. UGH, just thinking about it makes me want to curse the hell out of the situation. I won't though. She's such a bitch and does damage to my self esteem. The funny thing she said though is that apparantly I think all women are wrong for dressing well. What the hell is dressing well. She mentioned dressing a certain way for success, to look successful. If a bum wore a suit...does that make him a successful bum? What makes a confident woman who dresses comfortably and sensibly less successful. She's such a bitch to me. She lies like a motherfucker. She told me that my outfit for dinner tonight was fine when I was packing on Wednesday, then she found out my sister in law was wearing a dress. Good for my sister in law to want to wear a dress, but because of that, I apparantly HAD TO HAVE a fucking dress! BULLSHIT. Sorry for the swearing by the way. I'm really pissed cause I hear this every day of my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now that my brother is a raging success, well, he has been for years, but they met all his collegues who have nothing but great things to say about him, so, that just means that I get to hear about all the great things my brother IS because of what other people say about them. I'm not gonna marry a white guy. I don't have any plans in the near future of getting my MBA or any graduate degree cause I'm not qualified at the moment. Therefore, I am inferior to my brother. Hell, I guess having a degree from one of the top ranked universities in the country for petroleum engineering means shit.

Medical School

I'm back on campus, in a classroom. Except, it's not actually my school and my brother will be the one at the front doing the "lecture". It's gonna be a seminar about his dissertation. YAY!

Other big news, besides the fact that my brother will be getting his PhD soon...by November...OFFICIALLY...

Arindel's (the PhD) wife, Vissy is officially accepted at UMass for her MBA.
Adrian, my other brother and his wife are expecting a BOY.
I'm so frustrated with my parents, particularly my mom, but not's not news!

I'm glad to be in Boston. I just wish I wasn't stuck with my parents.
